After obtaining a Commercial Music Degree from Millikin University where he studied jazz and classical guitar studies, Chris toured for 8 years with international jazz recording artist Nick Colionne before committing to music education full-time.  Now rounding his seventh year as St. Edward’s Music Director, Chris continues to elevate the success of the school’s performing ensembles and the music department as whole.

  • Intro to Film - Animated Films Coed 6th - 9th

    Four different camps. Register for one or all four! Each Camp will start with a discussion of the theme of the week, and include information about movie making as it applies to the theme (screenwriting, directing, editing, cinematography, mise-en-scene). The Monday discussion will include examples from several films to help explain the lesson and will allow attendees to give examples of their favorite films in this genre. In Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday classes, students will watch a film and discuss: how it fits the genre, what it does different from other films in its genre, how this genre is different from other similar ones, how the film helped shape the genre it is in, and dissecting the film to talk about all the important parts of cinema within it. iPads will be used to show film technique, camera angles, lighting, and stage direction.

    Examples: Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Iron Giant, James and the Giant Peach, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, WALL-E, Up.


    Discovery the history of animated films, the different types of animation typically seen in cinema, and how making animated films has changed dramatically over the course of cinema history.

Tim worked as a film critic for several newspapers and web blogs in the years during and after college and has interviewed and discussed film with talent such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Martin Scorsese, J.J. Abrams, and Harrison Ford. He now has a career in Information Technology, but is still passionate for film and loves spending his spare time at the movie theater.

    Ms. Maddie Richmond

    Maddie Richmond, St. Edward Central Catholic Class of ’07, is a practicing visual artist who grew up in Elgin and attended St. Edward. After high school, she braved the northeast corner of Oklahoma in order to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with an emphasis in studio art, from Rogers State University. Currently, Maddie is working on completing the Master of Arts in Teaching graduate program at North Park University. With artwork belonging to collectors nationally and internationally, she finds success with various media. Maddie also serves as a member on the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission which provides the opportunity for involvement in the creative community that surrounds her and her students every day. She has dedicated the last four years to developing the visual arts program at St. Edward and teaching teenagers all things art.
